Raids Conducted at several medical stores in Sirsa District

Action taken against 20 medical store operators

Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao said that strict action will be taken against those who push the state’s youth into the trap of drug abuse. She has directed officers to intensify the campaign against the illegal sale of intoxicating medicines as part of the state’s drive to make Haryana drug-free.

In compliance with the Health Minister’s directions, under the “Nasha-Mukt Bharat” campaign, Haryana’s Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted raids at several medical stores in Sirsa district. During the operation, action was taken against 20 medical store operators for violations of rules.

Haryana State Drug Controller, Dr. Lalit Goel said that, as per the directions of FDA, Commissioner, Sh. Manoj Kumar, six Drugs Control Officers were assigned the responsibility of conducting surprise inspections in Sirsa district under the supervision of the Senior Drugs Control Officer of the Sirsa Zone.

Under the guidance of Sirsa, Deputy Commissioner, Shantanu Sharma and based on inputs from the Superintendents of Police of Sirsa and Dabwali, as well as on confidential information, raids were conducted in villages Singhpura, Ganga, Abubshahar, Chautala, Sakta Khera, Malikpura, Budhi Mari, Darbi, Bhavdin, along with in Sirsa city. In this drive, 29 shops were inspected.

Although no intoxicating drugs were recovered during the inspection, minor violations of rules were found in 20 medical stores. The Drugs Control Officers have prepared reports and sent them to higher authorities for further action. Action is being taken in these cases as per the rules. Dr. Lalit Goel further said that under the “Nasha-Mukt Bharat” campaign, the Food and Drugs Administration, Haryana, will continue investigations and raids against illegal drug sellers in the future as well.
